Many of midget races took place at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds and Taft Stadium in Oklahoma City. This photo is from 1950. This is the track the way it looked before what we see today. I believe this fairgrounds was located east of downtown just of north of the I-40 maybe on Eastern or Martin Luther King Blvd???? We would loose Jimmy in a Championship Car race at the Trenton Speedway in Trenton, NJ. The photo is Jimmy with the John Zink Heatmaker Special at a race in Tulsa OK. In 1950, the line up for one of the heat races at the Oklahoma City quarter mile. On the pole, is 'Buzz' Barton in Zink Number 3 Offy. On the outside is Jud Larson in the Bynum 99 Offy. Inside second row, Cecil Green in the Walker Number 18 and on the outside is J.D. Parks in the Bynum 66. Photo # I don't recall these midget racers, but it was 77 or 78 at Belleville, KS before they called it the Belleville Nationals. It was just a RMMRA sanctioned race. Richard Powell in the yellow #43. The yellow car on the outside next to the fence is the #32 owned by Joe Finley, and driven Shannon Finley. Richard Powell is the only one I remember. This car was driven by Mike Stroud of St. Louis, Missouri. It was an ex Howard Linnne Edmunds Sesco.
