International driver Mario Fuentes wears a sombraro while being introduced at Hutchinson. Mario is from Juarez, Mexico just across the border from El Paso, TX. Mario competed at several tracks on the NCRA circuit. Jerry Douglas from Wichita Falls, Texas in the super he and his dad Clyde owned in the spring of 1972. This was the first time out for Jerry and the car that would later have two championships in 72 and 73. By 1972 Jerry was a very seasoned veteran having started in racing in 1956. From 1961-1964 Jerry campaingned a late model on the tough IMCA Stock Car Circuit. With at least one win late in the fall at Shreveport against some of the big names.
