Dale Reed in 1977 with the Shot Hampton #94. It had been 3 years since Dale had won a major feature, but climbing into the #94 things were about to change. This was a real sharp looking super always. Heck it looks like it came to the track with Armor-All on the tires. Probably had a coat of wax every week too. Photo 1043 Taken from the 1978 NCRA Yearbook published by Jack Ward. The above photo was taken not to long after Roy switched rides in 1977, as the article states below. Roy and early season car owner Jerry Wilson made NCRA's first three events of 1977, but handling and mechanical problems caused them to come up empty handed and the team disbanded soon after. Bryant spent the rest of the season back in the Jim Kennedy owned #7 car, a car he also spent much of 1976 in. The Kennedy-Bryant combo will be back together for the 1978 season and should be tougher after spending parts of two seasons together. Roy is still capable of turning in some outstanding performances; with a good 78 ride, he could return to his past status as one of super modifieds brightest stars. Photo contributed by Jon Clemens. This photo is what memories are all about to me, Mohawk Speedway (although the photo is not taken at Mohawk) as a kid of 10 or so. I can still see them flying around the 1/4 mile. The names like Jay were bigger than life to me. Photo #1065 Photo courtesy of Roger Schrater and the Schrater collection. Another big name at the Hutch Nationals for me as a kid was Don Sprier #88 and the Chance Oldsmobile. How about that car next to the 88. That was the #26 that Dick Hendershot of Hutchinson drove. Oh the memories, even if it is just half of the car. I was not a normal kid, I think I lived for Mowhawk Speedway and any race I could go to at the Kansas State Fairgrounds. Photo #1066 Photo courtesy of Roger Schrater and the Schrater collection. Lee Salmans from Larned, KS drove the #10. I have heard from Lee and he is living in Utah and is still involved somewhat in racing he says. Man Roger Schrater has really brought the memories back. Photo #1067 Photo courtesy of Roger Schrater and the Schrater collection. How much better can the memories get?? Bob Salem and the #22 with the Isaac Truck Lines on the hood. Man I don't even remember that. Not to take away from the memories of Bob, but Bob's son Rick (who is on the site) raced and Ricks son Cody races sprint cars.
