McCarty was the home track for Merrick Racing, and many of the top stars from Western Kansas got there start at McCarty. One of the only tracks in the area where you got to see both of the top classes. The supers and the late models on the same show. Everytime I was out there the stands were pretty full. Oh yes, and if you can't tell who Brian's favorite driver was back then, I will give you a hint. Out of 12 photos Brian sent, 9 have Jon Johnson in them. Jon was and still is one of my favorites to. I haven't mentioned this on the site before, but Terry was involved in a bad flip at McCarty Speedway, that ended Terry's fabulous career. Terry thanks for the memories, and Hope your getting along well these days. I get lots of e-mail asking about Terry Uehling.
